About

Conversion of a residential yard, with rainwater treatment in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The projects origins from residents’ desire to renovate their shared courtyard in Vesterbro and add functions for local management of rain water from roof tops, with collection and infiltration in the central grass area and reuse for toilet and laundry. The newly formed courtyard is surrounded by a planted ditch that gathers rainwater at first and creates a distinct edge along the large common area. The last is planted with fruit trees and between them are chill and and play areas. Along the facades wooden terraces act as little bridges over the ditch.
